I wanted something unique and personal to go over the bed in my master bedroom. After doing some great projects like this the bi-fold door turned magazine rack (picture coming soon) and the fabric covered canvas print wall gallery, I didn’t want this “art” to overshadow the other projects in my room or make the room just too busy.
I stumbled on this Free Printables – Letters & Numbers tutorial and offering and thought this would be perfect for above my bed.
I ransacked my basement again for another piece of reclaimed wood (my whole basement is paneled in this stuff – it is too cool to be hidden in our dingy basement!). While pulling another board off the wall I eye some old coat hooks nearby. So I unscrewed those as well, thinking it would give just the right touch. Then I cut a cardboard box into 5 x 7 rectangles. I covered the rectangles in Osnaburg fabric, cut slits on either side and slid my sisal rope through. After tying the sisal in a knot, I was ready for my letters. I printed the letters from HERE – as previously mentioned – onto photo paper. I then glued the letters onto my fabric covered cardboard and finished them off with some heavy duty nails (wish I could be more specific) I found in hubby’s tool bag.
I love the simplicity of the project as well as the personalized feel it gives to our room!
Thanks for looking!
